Hi! My name is Derek Cascio and I'm here to help. I'm a designer working across a number of disciplines and I'm always looking for interesting projects. I love to tell stories and solve problems. I find that doing one usually informs the other. I love meeting new people so drop me a line and we can grab a cup of coffee. Fair warning, I'm a compulsive doodler so don't be surprised if you walk away with a sketch, most likely of a salt shaker.
I strive to deliver creative solutions to any problem. I'll work with you to craft a narrative around solutions that put people at the center. Whether that solution be hardware or software, simple or complex, there is an opportunity to design a meaningful experience that will change people's lives for the better.
It's very rare that I'm not drawing on something. I can't help myself. Whether it's to make someone laugh or to explain how something works, there is something magical in our ability to communicate through drawing. It's a skill that allows us to transform complex concepts or long descriptions into easy to understand visuals. I provide illustration services ranging from storyboards to finished illustration work that can help you tell your story quickly and easily.
In 2009 I embarked on an adventure with my friend Sam Aquillano. Together we sought to build the world's first distributed museum focused solely on public design education. "Let's create a new type of museum that can teach people about design and its impact on their lives where they already are!" With that notion, Design Museum Boston was born and has since grown in size and scope to provide programming and exhibitions across the country. With exhibitions in places like Logan Airport, Boston City Hall, and Fort Point Channel, Design Museum Boston has succeeded in reaching people where they live and work and will continue to deliver high quality exhibitions and events as it expands nationally.
